Skiddaw today, from Gale Road Car Park. The weather is odd, with drifting clouds and rapid changes of light.
We set off up the usual, very clear path into the clouds
A quick look behind over Keswick and Derwent Water
A long slog to the summit, not difficult after the first initial pull.
We sit in the lee of the sheepfold for a few minutes.
Why? you ask - not easy to tell from the pics but unfortunately the visibility is terrible, there is a very strong wind and it is wet.
We had hoped to enjoy the panaramic vista suggested by the summit map (right)
For the fun of it, I shoot a panoramic video from the summit (below).
If you would like to hear the wind, put the sound on...
360° Panoramic View from Skiddaw 03 Sep 2024
We make our way toward Skiddaw Little Man on the return journey
Off the summits now, time for a morning snack, lots of water and a snack for Indy
The weather clears up nicely when we reach the lower slopes, but neither of us fancies turning round and climbing up Skiddaw again to see if the summit is clear.
