It has been raining lightly this morning, but forecast to clear up by around 2pm.
We set off at lunchtime on a circuit from Braithwaite to take in Outerside and plan to arrive at Causey Pike in good weather.
Little did we know that we'd be treated to a marvellous long-lasting rainbow.
Narrow path through the heather to Outerside. Heather is beautiful but scratchy if you are wearing shorts...
Rising out of Newlands: High Spy, Hindscarth, Robinson
Full rainbow with rapidly changing light. Derwent Water behind
Taking a breather, the weather is clearing nicely now. The path you can see in the background is the one along Stoneycroft Gill
We arrive at Stoneycroft in full sunshine
