Labwag Favourite Lake
Buttermere

RETURN TO FAVOURITES

Buttermere is a beautiful lake in the Western Lake District.
Surrounded by dramatic fells and wooded slopes, Buttermere lies between Crummock Water and Loweswater.
We love the peaceful atmosphere, clear reflections, and famous walking route around its shoreline, which takes roughly two to three hours.
And of course lots of fantastic swimming opportunites for a lab!
The peaks of the High Stile Ridge (Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag) are on the Southern side and Fleetwith Pike lies to the East. Both can be reflected beautifully in the lake.
Don't miss the unusual tunnel on the Northern side...
It can get very busy - we prefer to visit early morning or out of tourist season.
